FAQ

What kind of violin or viola is required for beginners? 

We recommend a decent, student-level violin for beginners.  It doesn't need to be a new or a reputable violin such as a Stradivari. As long as the sound of your violin is rounded and nice, it is acceptable. Another key is that the student feels comfortable with the violin when he/she plays and practices with it. You can consult with your teacher for more information.

How much should be spent on a violin or a viola?

There is no definite answer to your question. The price of a violin can vary from $100 to as high as millions, depending on the source, brand, age, and history. Rental is another option for beginners instead of buying one at the beginning. Either way, regular maintenance is highly recommended.​​
